Education

Online master’s degree in Data Science. It is equivalent to a full-time study on campus. Graduated: May 7, 2021.

Topic: Optimal Experiment Design for Structured Linear Systems. Participated in the FP7 European project “Autoprofit” in which teamwork with various companies and other PhD students over the world was crucial for the project’s success. Nominated for Best Presenter at the 2015 Benelux Meeting for Systems and Control, Lommel, Belgium.

Master thesis performed at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. Topic: Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics for the 2D Euler and Shallow Water Equations. Results were published in a peer-reviewed journal. Received the Vliegenthart Thesis Award for the best Master’s thesis in Natural Sciences (Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science) in 2012

Thesis topic combined with my MSc degree in Physics, see above.

Includes Bachelor thesis internship at FOM Institute for Plasma Physics in Rijnhuizen; topic: Understanding the impact of surface roughness and sample preparation on hydrogen retention in tungsten. In the summer of 2017, I did a summer internship at the FOM institute of Atomic and Molecular Physics, under supervision of Prof.dr. G. Koenderink. Topic: nonlinear elasticity of biopolymer networks. Contributed to the writing of a scientific paper.

Awards

Hans Vliegenthart Thesis Award 2012 - Award for writing the best Master thesis within the University of Utrecht science department, titled Statistical Mechanics of the 2D Shallow Water Models.

Nominated for Best Presenter at the 2015 Benelux Meeting for Systems and Control, Lommel, Belgium
